Everyone’s life is full of interesting turns, twists, bumps, crashes and yes, even times of smooth sailing. My life is no different. Just 6 years ago I was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a career in Finance that spanned over 30 years.

So how did I switch from a CPA to a Law of Attraction Hypnotherapist and Coach?

As often happens with others who have seen their careers change directions in such a drastic way, I too had a life changing event that has put me on a course of no return.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business at the University of Colorado in Boulder. I earned my CPA license to practice in California. For over 30 years, I saw my career blossom as a Director of Finance, Controller, and Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (VP CFO) for various companies in the Bay Area.

I also became a full-time entrepreneur when I left my VP CFO role and became a 50% partner/owner of an engineering consulting firm called, Ops A La Carte LLC, that my husband had founded.

During the 14 years that we ran the company, the company grew on an international basis and was named by the San Jose Business Journal as the 9th fastest growing privately-held company in the Bay Area.

In 2014 all of that came to a sudden stop when my husband, founder, partner, best friend passed away from cancer.

With a business to run, two kids still in school, and a house to maintain, my world as a newly single mom turned upside down.

This person, whom I knew was going to be the one I grew old together, was now gone. I was so certain and boy was I wrong. In 2015, I decided to sell the business when it became clear that there were too many memories every time I walked through the front door of our office. My heart was no longer able to help carry on the work of his legacy. I found myself needing to process my grief. I had known my husband for 31 years. I had met him in college. I was devastated by the loss. I was angry at him for leaving me.

Although I was grieving for my loss, I had to try to keep it together for my kids and for the extended family and friends who were also grieving this loss.

I decided to take a couple of years off from working until my youngest child finished high school and moved on to college; leaving me empty nested. Well, almost empty nested as I was still taking care of our two dogs.

Now I had to decide what to do with my career. It would have been easy for me to return to an executive finance role in a company, but as I sat with this thought and idea, I realized the passion for this type of career had permanently faded.

So, I decided to start my own company to do bookkeeping for various companies. Without much effort, I immediately found myself attracting new clients to me to handle their bookkeeping needs.

Soon into my new career, it became clear to me that not only had the passion of being an executive faded, but the passion of doing anything finance related had also faded.

At first, I blamed it on the possibility of still being depressed and grief-stricken. I blamed it on me just being confused, shaken, and not thinking clearly.

But it was during this time that I began to remember how many friends and family members had previously suggested to me that I should consider being a counselor or a life coach.

They saw how I had deeply connected with people during the months when my husband’s health had been declining. It seemed that I had a natural ability to connect with others in a heartfelt way, as others easily opened up to me about the tragedy of their own lives.

When this was suggested to me, the thoughts began running through my mind…

I’m too old to change careers.”

“Why am I considering changing careers and starting over…
it’s going to take a long time to switch and get back to this point.”

“What if I don’t like it? Then I’ll will have wasted my time and money.”

“I know I can make money as a CPA,
but how can I make enough money doing coaching?”

Luckily, I did not let these thoughts permanently close the door for me to consider my options.

At the time, I did not know what a life coach did. One path led to another and I found myself guided to check out Christy Whitman’s organization. This was the first step that changed my life.

Through Christy’s organization, I became certified as a Law of Attraction coach. While I was getting certified, I was simultaneously guided to Rainya Dann’s Institute for Transpersonal Studies, which led me to also become certified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist.

Even before I received my official certificates in the mail, I began attracting clients with very little effort.

It was at this time that my biggest “ah-ha” moment took place. When I was doing my bookkeeping work, I felt my energy level drain. It was hard for me to find the motivation to sit down and do the work. However, when I rolled off of a two-hour coaching or hypnotherapy session with a client, my energy level soared through the roof…elated, higher than life.

I had FINALLY found my passion and I felt happy…happier than I had felt about any career even when my husband was alive.

Journey of
Self-discovery

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of my husband. I deeply, deeply loved him. But with every tragedy, there is a silver lining if you just look for it. It has taken me a few years to realize this, but I now see the silver lining with my husband’s death.

If he had not died, I would never have become a life coach or a hypnotherapist. I would never have found my true passion. I would not have the strong connection that I now have with my own soul, my spirit guides, my inner wisdom, and my divine.

I now see that my purpose is to help others connect to their happiness.
Of course, happiness is subjective and is different with each individual.

Sometimes it is changing one aspect in their life and
with others it is changing and transforming many areas.
Sometimes it shows up as lowering anxiety and stress and learning
how to return to calmness and relaxation.
Sometimes it shows up as overcoming depression and grief.
It could be found by igniting a loving relationship.
For others, happiness is finding the love for oneself perhaps through
self-care, quitting smoking, managing weight, focusing on better nutrition.
And yet for others it might be about making more money, having abundance and success.

I love traveling on the journey with my clients to discover how to transform their life into a life that they absolutely love.

Imagine what the world would look like if each person loved themselves and the life they are living.
